Lennar buys more land for homes in Bear Creek Riverwalk in Euless

Lennar Corp. has bought 13 more acres in the Bear Creek Riverwalk development in Euless. Last year, Lennar bought 55 acres in Bear Creek Riverwalk, at the northwest corner of Airport Freeway and Texas 360. Lennar is building 200 homes there and calling the development Dominion at Bear Creek. The company said it will build about 60 homes on the newly acquired land. Construction won’t begin until 2015, the company said. “We are very pleased with the positive response to our Dominion at Bear Creek Development, and we are happy to expand our commitment to this community,” Greg Urech, Lennar’s vice president of land and acquisitions, said in a statement. Lennar bought the land from Stratford Land, which started Bear Creek Riverwalk, a residential and commercial development, in 2011 when it bought 194 acres from a California group that had owned the land since 1993. Stratford said it will begin the commercial development when more homes are built. About 70 acres are set aside for commercial development of shops and restaurants. When completed,

Riverwalk will have about 480 single-family homes, 250 town homes and about 500 apartments.

What about the schools!

About HEB ISD

The Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD was founded in 1958 when three cities
kept their local governments separate but merged their school districts
in order to become even more competitive and high performing.
HEB ISD’s rich history of excellence is demonstrated today
through International Baccalaureate, Asian languages,
Spanish Immersion, Core Knowledge Pre-K, and sister
schools in China and India. These international
programs provide HEB ISDstudents a world-class
education that prepares them to compete in a
global economy.

The District is recognized across the state and

nationwide for its superior curriculum, low

teacher-student ratios, and a singular focus on instructional spending. This fine-tuned combination consistently makes HEB ISD the district of choice for families who want their children to have an academic edge.

HEB ISD is rich with diversity, which gives the district a distinctly international flavor. Students come from homes where more than 60 different native languages are spoken. These include children from Pakistan, the Sudan, Mexico, India, Vietnam, and South Korea. The HEB community has one of the largest Tongan populations outside of the South Pacific.

Girl with Chinese Flash CardPreparing children to compete on a global stage takes a concerted effort. Every department, campus, and teacher works to support student achievement. Everyone must work together to prepare each student for the future, but in the end, it is students' responsibility to take charge of their learning. Teachers have high expectations for their students, and they will give them the resources to take ownership of their education.

This cultural environment provides students with the ability to interact on a global level, in the comfort of a school setting. When HEB students attend college with students from around the world, they will already have the experience of working with international peers. This prior experience will give them an added advantage in school and on the job.

Bell IB BoyIn addition to a rich student life experience, HEB ISD offers a variety of international programs to help students prepare for living in a global economy. Elementary Spanish Immersion, junior high Hindi and Mandarin languages, and high school International Baccalaureate are only a few of the unique academic enrichment opportunities available.

The District benefits from a strong relationship with the three municipalities, Tarrant County College, the HEB Chamber of Commerce, HEB Economic Development Foundation, HEB Education Foundation, Rotary Club of HEB, and local businesses and volunteers. Community support is an essential part of the HEB ISD success story.

Giving students that extra “edge” is not new in HEB. In 1958, three cities consolidated their school districts to form the Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD. This was the first of many forward-thinking, visionary actions taken in order to provide a unique education found only in HEB ISD. After 50 years of academic excellence, the District is well positioned to continue offering an unmatched education to all students.

A write up from a Euless home owner about the dog park.

Euless Dog Park

One of the biggest challenges since moving back home has been trying to find some good parks to take our four legged friends too.  This is a really great one, too bad it is too far to regularly come to.

First off, the entire park around the dog park is great. I grew up in the area and am really proud how much work Euless has put in to develop and maintain their parks. Bear Creek itself has a great series of trails including one that stretches out to Bob Eden park up by 121.

My wife is a runner and I am more of a loafer. On a weekend I will drop her off at Bob Eden, then drive to Bear Creek.  The Basset and I will make a lazy attempt at walking a little bit, then head to the dog park to sniff. It works out pretty well. She gets a few miles in and I get to sit around. Win win!

The dog park is very open. The spot itself is pretty flat, but they have added in some benches along with several big rocks and some cool doggy obstacles. Definitely enough landmarks to keep the dogs interested. There is also a fenced in area to hose off your dog (or yourself I suppose).  Though that would be weird. Really weird.

Aquatic Park

The all new Euless Family Life Center Aquatic Park a.k.a. EFLAP features fun for the entire family! Take a spin in the 545 foot long lazy river on inner tubes or relax on the lounge chairs beside the pool. Entertain young ones in the interactive water playground with zero depth entry, fountains, slides and water falling from a raindrop bucket while parents can supervise the activities on the tranquil waterfall bench with continuously flowing water to keep cool.

Older children with a sense of adventure can choose from three different slides that are 28 feet high, play basketball in the pool or test their agility on the balancing nets and lily pads.

There are several shaded and non-shaded seating areas around the pool as well as a concession stand and bathhouse. Lifejackets are available upon request at no charge. Season passes for the 2015 outdoor swimming season will be available starting January 1, 2015.
