In Dallas-Fort Worth, the best time to put your house up for sale is between May 1-15, according to a recent study by Zillow. Homes posted during that time sell nine days faster than average and result in a 1.3-percent sales premium, which translates to $2,400.
"Many home buyers who started looking for homes in the early spring will still be searching for their dream home months later," said Svenja Gudell, Zillow chief economist, in the study. "By May, some buyers may be anxious to get settled into a new home— and will be more willing to pay a premium to close the deal."
Additionally, Zillow said the ideal day to list your DFW house is Saturday because that generates the most views.
Dallas is one of 20 of the 25 largest metro areas where the best month to list your house is either April or May. Of the 25 largest metro areas in the U.S. Zillow examined, Dallas' 1.3-percent hike ranks as one of the highest. That's because the climate is more varied than a Phoenix or a Miami, Zillow said, which both have increases of less than 1.0 percent.
