Our Mission
To provide financial assistance to those suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, their families or loved ones when finance or basic insurance is unavailable. This is a personal journey to honor my Mother, Maria Mirabel Guzman, who died from this terrible disease. It is my desire to help families care for their loved ones in their own home for as long as possible. A secondary goal is to help improve Alzheimer’s facilities making them a place where families feel their loved ones will be cared for with compassion. Sign the Petition to the President

Jose Guzman is a former Major League Baseball pitcher, who played with both the Texas Rangers and the Chicago Cubs over a span of 10 years. Although baseball was a major part of his life, nothing was more important to him than his mother. It is because of his personal experience with Alzheimer's and the suffering that it caused his mother, and ultimately his entire family, that he chose to start the Guzman23 Foundation. Through this foundation, Jose hopes to be able to provide financial assistance to those suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, their families or loved ones when finances or basic insurance is unavailable. It is Jose's desire to help families care for their loved ones in their own home as long as possible, as well as helping to improve Alzheimer’s facilities, making them a place where families feel their loved ones will be cared for with compassion.News from Guzman 23 Foundation
Facts and Figures on Alzheimer's - Report Published
The Alzheimer's Association 2013 Alzheimer's Disease Facts and Figures Report reveals new statistics on the ever-growing weight of Alzheimer's disease on our nation.
The report uncovers new information on growing death rates, the cost of the disease, and the burden placed on long-distance caregivers. "Unfortunately today there are no Alzheimer's survivors. If you have Alzheimer's disease, you either die from it or die with it. Now we know that 1 in every 3 seniors dies with Alzheimer's disease or another dementia. Urgent, meaningful action is necessary, particularly as more and more people age into greater risk for developing a disease that has no cure and no way to slow or stop its progression," said Harry Johns, president and CEO of the Alzheimer's Association. By 2025, the number of people 65 and older with Alzheimer's disease is estimated to reach 7.1 million – a 40 percent increase from 5 million aged 65 and older currently affected. Startling facts include:
1 in 3 seniors dies with Alzheimer's or another dementia.
Deaths from Alzheimer's increased 68 percent between 2000 and 2010, while deaths from other major diseases, including the number one cause of death (heart disease), decreased.
In 2012, the direct costs of caring for those with Alzheimer's or other dementias to American society will total an estimated $203 billion, including $142 billion in costs to Medicare and Medicaid.
The face of Alzheimer's is changing, affecting more of our friends and family every day. View the ReportRemember
